Sunday August 28th

RECEPTION HONORING TATER TOWN GRAND MARSHAL

GLEASON: A reception will be held to honor the 2011 Tater Town Special Grand Marshal, Jerry Connell, on Sunday, August 28 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Gleason Methodist Church. Come and enjoy cake and punch and celebrate with the Gleason Gazelles and the Gleason School as they honor this individual for his  accomplishments and contributions to the Gleason Community.

 

Tuesday August 30th

OLD FASHIONED GOSPEL SINGING

GLEASON: The Gleason Gazelles are sponsoring an Old Fashioned Gospel Singing on Tuesday, August 30, at the Gleason Methodist Church. The singing will start at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free. Come and enjoy a night of good old fashioned gospel singing, as well as solos and quartets. For more information, call Christi Clark at 415-3511.

TATER TOWN SPECIAL YOUTH NIGHT-MAGIC SHOW

GLEASON: Wednesday, August 31, the Gleason Gazelles will sponsor a Faith based Magic Show, starting at 7:15 p.m. Justin Chandler will bring a show to motivate and inspire. For more information, call Cil Weddington at 514-9007.

TATER TOWN ADULT BINGO

GLEASON: The Gleason Gazelles are sponsoring a night of free “Bingo on the Gazelle Grounds,” on Thursday, September 1. Come and enjoy the excitement of winning valuable prizes. The fun starts at 7:00 p.m. Free admission. You must be 18 years of age to participate.

Friday September 2nd

BBQ COOK-OFF

GLEASON: Fire up those grills for the last big cook-out of the summer and enter the Tater Town Cook-off on Friday, September 2, at the Gazelle Grounds. Categories include Backyard BBQ, Chicken, Ribs, and Pork Shoulder. Gates will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. There will be live entertainment. Adult admission is $5.00 to enter and eat till it’s gone. For more information or to enter a team, call Kim Borneman at 514-3021 or 648-9234.

 

TATER TOWN SWEET POTATO BAKE-OFF

GLEASON: The Gleason Gazelles are sponsoring a “Sweet Potato” bake-off on Friday, September 2 at the Gazelle Grounds. Individuals must submit their prepared dishes by 5:00 p.m. for judging. Cooks must submit the recipe along with their entry, which must have sweet potatoes as an ingredient. Cash prizes are $100, $50, and $25. For more information, contact Cil Weddington at 514-9007. This event will once again be held in conjunction with the BBQ Cook-off.

 

Saturday September 3rd

TATER TOWN SPECIAL 5K RACE

GLEASON: The Gleason Gazelles are sponsoring a 5K Race on Saturday, September 3. Entries will register in front of the Gleason School at 7:00 a.m. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The entry fee is $10.00. For more information, call Kerri Burden at 648-5632.

ANTIQUE TRACTOR SHOW

GLEASON: An Antique Tractor/Engine Show will be held on the front lawn of the Gleason School on Saturday, September 3. Show entries may be driven through the Grand Parade, if desired, then parked on the school lawn for the show. There are no entry fees. There will be drawings for door prizes. Call Charles Anderson at 648-9323 or Zac Montgomery at 648-5446 for questions concerning the tractor show.

TATER TOWN SPECIAL PARADES “Small Town USA”

GLEASON: The Gleason Gazelles invite everyone to participate in this year’s Parades on Saturday, September 3, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Kids are invited to decorate bikes, trikes, 4-wheelers, go-carts, etc., and ride in the Junior Parade. Registration will be in front of Gleason Lumber Co. at 9:00 a.m. Registration for the Grand Parade will be in the American Legion parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Trophies will be awarded in several categories. There is no entry fee for either parade. All horse entries will register at the Gleason Saddle Club.

GREAT PRETENDERS IN CONCERT – First Performance

GLEASON: The Gleason Rotary Club will be sponsoring the Great Pretenders in concert during the festivities of the annual Tater Town Special. There will be a 7:00 p.m. show on Saturday, September 3. COMMUNITY CHURCH SERVICE

The week’s Tater Town Special activities will also include the annual Community-Wide Worship Service. This years worship service will be hosted by the First Baptist Church of Gleason, with the services beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by a potluck lunch at the Gleason United Methodist Church.
